Our 2011 networking events came to a close with WNA Members revelling in the Christmas festivities, entertainment and gift giveaways at our Brisbane Christmas Luncheon on Friday. A great time was had by all and the celebration was a fitting end to what has been a rollercoaster year for so many women in business. But there's no time for busy women to dwell on the past - for most the attention now diverts to what is yet to be achieved in the Christmas present shopping department, how and what we are going to feed the festive hoards that gather around the dinner table on Christmas Day and last but not least what on earth we are going to do to keep the kids occupied and out of trouble through 'til the end of January. But let's face it girls, most of us wouldn't have it any other way.

Well, after hosting over 100 events this year I made the conscious decision some months ago that someone else would be spoiling me on Christmas day. So with the two kids in tow I'm off cruising New Zealand for a couple of weeks and returning in the New Year. But you guessed it, there is no such luck as getting away without having to serve up the traditional Christmas fare - I am up for that job this coming weekend. My idea of early gift giving instead of taking it all on the ship has back-fired and simply led to the full traditional spread taking place on an earlier date - so baked turkey, pork and ham with all the trimmings it is. I have heard the kids excitedly discussing it all and I believe I will also have the great joy of sitting through 'Polar Express' and 'The Santa Claus' movies. All I can say is that it's lucky that I absolutely adore Christmas.

The WNA team are taking a well-deserved break and the office will close on Friday, 16 December and open again on Monday, 16 January, 2012.
