Hi [subscriber-firstname]
Hello and welcome to my first ever real e-newsletter! I get so caught up in the business of making frocks that I find it challenging to step back and share the news. I have just returned back from my annual buying trip to Bangkok and Singapore and have bought with me some luscious fabrics and fun and funky accessories that are well worth a look. Most of these are in very limited amounts so as usual - first in best dressed.
So, recession or no recession? That is the question everyone is talking about. Whether or not you have been hit personally, no doubt you know someone who is concerned about their financial future.
Here are some money saving points to consider regarding your wardrobe:
n Do any items require alteration or repair and is therefore not being worn? For example, broken zippers or buttons fallen off. You may as well get value out of your existing wardrobe.
n Do you have items that you aren't wearing because there is something 'not quite right' with them? These can often be re-shaped or re-vamped and then become your favourite items again.
n Do you have all your BASICS covered? What I call your boring basics - items that don't date and that you can keep fresh by adding accessories and knits.
n Plan your purchases. Impulse buys have a lot to answer for. Often these are more about 'had to have something to wear to such-and-such', rather than part of the big picture of a workable wardrobe.
n Be realistic and allow for clothing when writing a budget. You do have to wear clothes now even if one day...you are going to lose weight! Know also that you will get tired of what you have and want something new that you feel great in.
n Dryclean in bulk wherever possible. You get a much better deal for 5 pieces than you do for just one. Airing is something that used to happen a lot more. If you just need to freshen a jacket, for example, hang it outside in the shade.
Warm regards
