Hi [subscriber-firstname]

Today's Brisbane Ekka holiday gave us a chance to take some time out to put an update together for you.

It's been a while since we've been in touch via our enewsletter. This is just a brief note to say hi and let you know about some activites you may be interested in.

With all the contributions we received about the Scrub Road Extension and the removal of the Moreton Bay Fig Tree, we realised that we needed to make running the site easier. So we've now set up a community blog which you can contribute to. If there is something new you would like us to raise on the blog - simply email info@carindaleconnect.com.au (or just reply to this email) and let us know what you would like raised. Then, when we add a topic, anyone (who follows our policy) can post comments on it.

We encourage you to forward this to a friend / neighbour.

The above link lets you forward without losing any of the newsletter formatting. We don't record or use the email addresses of those you forward to.

Take care,

The Carindale Connect team.

Recycle, give and receive in your local area

Freecycle - a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free

We really love this concept.

Rather than throwing something away, dealing with eBay or a garage sale, why not just give it away? Give something to the community, reduce waste, and get rid of your junk. And if you're after something - why not put the word out to your community first?

We've signed up to the Freecycle Brisbane group.

We really encourage all our Carindale Connect friends to sign up to it too.

Neighbourhood Watch - online

Finding out about meetings, organising meetings, attending meetings, taking minutes, organising funding and the like can involve quite a bit of effort.

With this website we've got a way to get the community to participate when they like and for discussions to be documented in a shared place for everyone. If you are involved in an offline neighbourhood watch group - you're welcome to post information about them here.

We've had a number of people over the time ask us about neighbourhood watch in the area. We've always felt very safe here, but our neighbours recently had some items stolen while they were at home. Site visitors' queries combined with this incident led us to write a short post about it.

And that post is now in a 'neighbourhood watch' category. So, with one single post, our online neighbourhood watch tool is now in place!
It's now down to everyone else to get involved. As always, it's not just for Carindale. We cover Carina, Carina Heights, Mount Gravatt, Belmont and other bordering areas.

Post a comment to the existing post or email info@carindaleconnect.com.au (or reply to this email) if you would like a new post started.
