| Mural Project Opportunity for Artists |
 |
The Bundaberg Arts Centre is calling for submissions for a wrap around mural or set of murals for the Bundaberg Arts Centre Access Studio.
The Access Studio is a dedicated workshop space on the top floor of the Arts Centre and covers many target audiences and age groups. The Bundaberg Arts Centre is looking for a creative, family friendly, inspiring design and style that will appeal to varied age groups. It is envisioned that the public would be involved in the murals production through a series of approximately 3-4 art workshops/ events, led by the artist, and the outcomes of these workshops/events would then form a part of the overall mural design.
The project will be undertaken alongside many other minor renovations at the Art Centre during January and February 2009, and must be fully completed by 15th February 2009. All material will be supplied by the Bundaberg Arts Centre, and an overall fee of $3000 will be payable to the successful artist on completion of the project.
Submissions for this project are due to the Bundaberg Arts Centre PO Box 3130 by 12th December 2008 and the outcome will be decided early in the new year. Submissions should include a recent resume that includes experience in murals/ public art as well as a 1 page concept brief for the space along with sketches/ photos of the plan.
For more information or to arrange a visit to the space, please contact Andrew Gill on 4152 3700

Seniors Morning Tea and Movie Wednesday, 3 December at 9.30am “Miss Potter” rated PG starring Renée Zellweger, Ewan McGregor, Emily Watson. Thirty years old and single, Beatrix Potter lives in London with her social-climbing parents, who are exasperated that she has turned down any number of eligible young men. Her only real friends are the animals which since childhood she has lovingly drawn and made up stories about. She finally succeeds in selling a book of the stories, and it becomes Norman Warne's first project. He quickly falls in love with both the book and Beatrix and together they carefully arrange publication. This proves the first of many successes, offering her the possibility of escaping from both her parents' way of life and London. A wonderfully captivating story about the life of children’s author Beatrix Potter, whose much loved characters Benjamin Bunny and Jemima Puddleduck to name a few are still favourites today among adults and children alike.
