The mornings are getting crisper and the air has a keeness about it in the early morning, I think Jack Frost is waiting around the corner but I hope not till after Easter but it brings ones thoughts to checking the wood pile for winter. However the weather this long week-end was fantastic and busy, the shop seemed to always have a dozen people browsing and enjoying the fun, happy atmosphere. My days off this week are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and I am secure in the knowledge that Mel will look after you all so well.. We have had an exciting and beneficial workshop on Sunday learning how to do these news letters and will have another one in a few months.Jewel did a brilliant job as usual. Billy Bag is ready and keen for the next season ,with many new goodies arriving weekly, we now have a range of cast iron dog bootscrappers, wall hooks and plant stands. We have just received a shipment from Robert Gordon Pottery in Victoria, its fantastic, we are still madly unpacking.. The weaning spoon sets have arrived, these make a train or cow noise and are fun we have a wide selection of baby gifts. We are already booked in for the August trade fair, Mel and I are going to that from the 31st July until the 4th August so the shop will be shut that week. We will continue to trade 7 days a week until the end of May then go back to 5 days a week and later starting times through the cold weather. Glass with Class - An inspiring customer at Billy Bag Gift Shop this month was Jenny Rollins from Channel Glazing at Margate. During our chat I found out she has been running Channel Glazing by herself for 15 years, and she is also the Secretary of the Tasmanian Glass & Aluminium Association. I caught up with Jenny again at the Womens Network of Australia lunch at the Salamanca Inn last Thursday. Jenny looks after residential & commercial customers all around Tasmania & specialises in shop fronts, patio enclosures, glass & mirror requirements and is only a phone call away from anyone that needs some glass advice - 03 6267 2531 Travel Bugs - Ken Talbot & his wife Tonia were great fun customers at the weekend and entertained us with some wonderful travel stories and made me start dreaming about taking a cruise or travelling to some exotic place. I am far too busy running Billy Bag at the moment to even contemplate a holiday anytime soon. Ken runs Travel 360 in Launceston and has been in the travel industry since 1973 and can always offer great deals for international and domestic travellers - 03 6344 2223
